Dr. Knapp earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati and did his residency at Ohio State University Hospital. He returned to Pacific Eye Associates in 2000 after a period of retirement in Costa Rica. He teaches residents cataract surgery at the VA Hospital, and UCSF, and was given the Crowell Beard Excellence of Teaching award by the UCSF residents. Dr. Knapp donates his services to medical-surgical expeditions at the Hospital de la Familia in Guatemala.
